  • The 'classic' Mac OS is the original Macintosh operating system that was introduced in 1984 alongside the first Macintosh and remained in primary use on Macs until the introduction of Mac OS X in 2001. Apple released the original Macintosh on January 24, 1984; its early system software was partially based on the Lisa OS and the Xerox PARC Alto computer, which former Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
  • This tutorial will detail how you can view a disk usage and storage summary on a Mac. Accessing the Mac Disk Usage Summary. If you want to check a Macs disk space and disk usage, this is one of the simplest ways to do so: From anywhere in Mac OS, choose the Apple menu item and select “About This Mac”.
  • MacOS (originally named 'Mac OS X' until 2012 and then 'OS X' until 2016) is the current Mac operating system that officially succeeded the classic Mac OS in 2001. Although the system was originally marketed as simply 'version 10' of Mac OS, it has a history that is largely independent of the classic Mac OS.

These instructions are intended for machines that have had a PCI USB card installed after Mac OS installation has occurred, or one running 9.2 without built-in USB ports. The extensions that come with 9.2 have a bug, causing them to not work on Macs without built-in USB. The card and devices plugged into it will appear in System Profiler but will not function, and do not disappear until the machine is restarted.

Disk Drill is an effective and reliable app to recover files from an SD card on Mac OS X 10.5+ and supports macOS Big Sur. It can recover deleted files on all types of SD cards on Mac OS X including SDHC, SDXC, MicroSD, CompactFlash Cards, XD Cards, Sony Memory Sticks, MMC Cards, and virtually any other card your Mac can read.

In 9.1 you could also run the installer again, select Add/Remove, and add in USB Adapter Card Support. This is located in Mac OS 9.1>Network & Connectivity when doing a customized installation.

You will need

  • A Macintosh with a working Mac OS 9.1 or 9.2 installation (See note 1 for prior versions)
  • One PCI USB Card that’s OHCI compliant, installed in the Mac. The vast majority of PCI USB 1.1/2.0 cards support OHCI.
    • Theoretically any OHCI-compliant card will work, but certain configurations are problematic (See note 2)
    • Note that a USB2.0 card will not work at 2.0 speeds as OS8/9 do not support EHCI
  • Mac OS 9.1, either a retail CDROM or the 9.1 update
  1. Insert your OS 9.1 disc or extract the 9.1 update and open the “Installation Tome” file
    1. This is located in Software Installers/System Software/Mac OS 9.1
  2. Extract these files from the tome, placing them on your desktop.
    1. HID Library
    2. Serial ShimLib
    3. USB Device Extension
    4. USB Mass Storage Support
    5. USB Software Locator
    6. USB Support
  3. Skip to step 4 unless you’re running 9.2. You’ll need to remove the preinstalled versions of these files from your Extensions folder (in your System Folder.) Create a folder on your desktop and place them inside.
  4. Drag the files you extracted onto the System Folder. You should receive a dialog box asking you to confirm placing them in the Extensions folder, click OK. Alternatively you can place the files directly in the Extensions folder.
  5. Reboot. USB should now be working. You may trash the extensions you removed (if on 9.2)
  1. Apple provided USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1 as a separate installer for 8.6-9.0. You may still be able to use the versions extracted from 9.1, however.
  2. All OHCI cards are supposed to work.
    1. I’ve had the best luck with NEC, Lucent, and OPTi-based cards. I’d stay away from VIA
    2. I could not get any USB 2.0 cards to function in a PowerMac 6500. I suspect this might have something to do with PCI 2.2, but I’m not sure. Please comment with your results.

Shleter 2:
The beauty of nature goes hand in hand with its unforgiving rawness. That is central in Shelter 2, and one of the reasons we chose to make a game about a Lynx. They are in middle of the food chain, and there are far more vicious things out on the cold tundra.
The game follows the life of a mother lynx, starting as a pregnant animal, giving birth and continuing in to a journey of parenthood where nurturing her cubs is paramount for survival. Shelter 2 includes more elaborate gameplay features than its predecessor, such as stamina, different types of movements, jumps and a variety of prey to kill. Besides hunting there are several maternal and hunting features, such as calling the cubs closer, smell for prey, making sure they drink water from rivers and lifting and carrying your cubs from harm’s way.
A vast wilderness awaits
Environments in Shelter 2 are much bigger than its predecessor and allow a lot more freedom than ever before, allowing players to find favorite spots to return to. This time weather and seasons change, harsh winters and bloomy summers awaits you!
The music is once again presented by Retro Family, awarded for their work on the Pid Soundtrack, and the visuals have been reinvented by adding dense atmosphere and lighting to the patterned graphical art style.
The Shelter base game is not available for Linux
