From Dark To Light Mac OS

Fortunately, both major operating systems have responded by offering both light and dark modes as an operating system-level choice, with a simple toggle. So began my quest for finding out how many of the tools I use every day could be converted to automatically switch themes when I toggle the appearance. In macOS Mojave in Dark Mode, dark colors are used in place of light colors in the user interface. For example, in Dark Mode the menu bar at the top of the Mac UI is no longer white with black text. You can even schedule theme changes based on the time, so that dark mode automatically turns on at night and reverts to light mode in the morning. Note, however, that at a fundamental level LightsOff is using the same Terminal methods described earlier to modify app configurations. WIth automatic I see a lot of issues in menubar and applications, that after change, some colors can still stay in the previous mode. Like it will change to light, but some foreground colors are still light as well, so you are looking on white text on light gray background.

How to solve the auto dark mode not working on macOS Catalina?

Dark

Step 1.Your Mac will not switch to the dark/light theme when you are using it. So you can try locking the screen and then unlock it to see if the theme changes.

Step 2. If it still doesn’t work, it may be related to the Night Shift settings, as the automatic adjustment of the theme is usually based on the Nigh Shift settings on your Mac. So you should check if the Night Shift is enabled on your Mac. To do it, you should go to the Apple menu - System Preferences - Click 'Displays' - Click the 'Night Shift' tab. Then you can have Night Shift turn on automatically from sunset to sunrise, or you can also choose 'Custom' to set your own Night Shift schedule.

Step 3. If the above steps still cannot solve the problem, there may be something wrong with your macOS Catalina version. So please update your Mac to the latest macOS Catalina version.

Does these solutions help you? If not, it may also have something to do with the bugs of the new macOS Catalina, so you can wait for the macOS Catalina latest update to fix these bugs.

Dark Mode is a dramatic new look that's easy on your eyes and helps you focus on your work. Dark Mode uses a dark color scheme that works system wide, including with the apps that come with your Mac. And third-party apps can adopt it, too.

Turn on Dark Mode

Choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click General, then select one of the Appearance options at the top of the window:

  • Light: Use the light appearance.
  • Dark: Use the dark appearance.
  • Auto: Automatically use the light appearance during the day, and the dark appearance at night.

How Dark Mode works with some apps and features

Some apps and features have special Dark Mode settings or behaviors.

Mail. To use a light background for email messages while Dark Mode is turned on, open Mail and choose Mail > Preferences, then click the Viewing tab and deselect “Use dark backgrounds for messages.”

Maps. To use a light background for maps while Dark Mode is turned on, open Maps and choose Maps > Preferences, then select ”Always use light map appearance.” In earlier versions of macOS, click View in the menu bar in Maps, then deselect Use Dark Map.
